Abstract

Penggunaan TikTok selama perjalanan pulang menjadi salah satu cara pekerja generasi Z asal Bogor mengisi waktu, mencari hiburan, memperoleh informasi, dan melepaskan ketegangan setelah bekerja. Namun, penggunaan yang awalnya bertujuan memberikan jeda sementara dapat berkembang menjadi pengguliran berkepanjangan dan, pada episode tertentu, doomscrolling. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis motif serta pemaknaan pengalaman doomscrolling TikTok selama commuting pascakerja pada pekerja generasi Z asal Bogor. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi transendental. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap lima informan berusia 23–24 tahun yang rutin menggunakan KRL dari Jakarta menuju Bogor serta didukung oleh observasi kontekstual dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan prosedur Stevick–Colaizzi–Keen melalui epoche, horizonalization, pengelompokan makna, serta penyusunan deskripsi tekstural, struktural, dan esensi. Uses and Gratifications Theory digunakan sebagai pisau analisis untuk memahami hubungan kebutuhan, motif, penggunaan media, gratifikasi yang dicari, dan pengalaman yang diperoleh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan antara pengguliran biasa, pengguliran berkepanjangan, dan doomscrolling. Pengalaman dikategorikan sebagai doomscrolling ketika informan tetap melanjutkan pengguliran setelah terpapar konten negatif atau konten yang menimbulkan ketidaknyamanan, menyadari perubahan perasaan, tetapi mengalami kesulitan berhenti. Motif penggunaan meliputi hiburan, pengisian waktu perjalanan, pengurangan kebosanan, pelepasan ketegangan, pencarian informasi, dan pencarian referensi praktis. Gratifikasi yang diperoleh tidak selalu sesuai dengan gratifikasi yang dicari. Esensi pengalaman informan adalah pemulihan digital yang ambivalen. TikTok memberikan hiburan, informasi, dan pengalihan sementara, tetapi pada episode tertentu juga berkaitan dengan kehilangan kesadaran terhadap waktu, overthinking, penurunan suasana hati, dan tambahan kelelahan. Dengan demikian, doomscrolling TikTok merupakan pengalaman situasional yang dipengaruhi oleh jenis konten, kesadaran terhadap waktu, kondisi emosional, dan kemampuan mengendalikan penggunaan.
